Perception Rudder Kit Short Pin

Perceptions Short pin version of their Rudder kit will help with tracking especially in the wind as well as increase the manoeuvrability of your Perception solo kayak. The Sliding foot brace system allows you to steer with your feet. Rudder is able to be deployed and retracted from the seat for beach launches and landings. Designed to work with Perception kayak models featuring threaded inserts on stern for attaching a rudder mounting block. Includes detailed instructions and all parts needed for installation. Not compatible with Perception models featuring a moulded-in stern rudder post hole (these models will require the Perception Rudder Kit with Long Pin.

Note that perception only make 2 sizes of rudder pin so some brands may call this a mid pin size. Normally this will project through the mounting bracket to allow attachment of the retaining split ring. This pin has a cut out so it can also be used as a bayonet style fitting on compatible kayaks.

Pin is 3/8″ diameter (Imperial approx 9.5mm metric) and about 5cm long. You will need to have 6-7mm sticking out the bottom of the rudder mounting bracket to expose the hole for the split pin.

Will also suit models by Wilderness Systems as other brands (although instructions will not be specific). Comes with all the parts and instructions required to fit to your kayak (except tools). Note contains rudder mount not pictured in main shot

Typically you will need a screwdriver, spanner, and scissors and possibly a drill depending on your model of kayak.

This Rudder comes fitted on a number of Perception (and wilderness systems kayaks) such as the perception Showdown.

This kit is for new installs to kayaks that have not had a rudder previously fitted.Spare parts are available and there is no need to buy a full kit to replace individual parts.
