Kajak Sport Hatch Rim Round 10

This Kajak Sport hatch rim is precision-made for their hatch covers. The rim is made of durable and glueable ABS-plastic. Using Kajak Sport  covers together with their rims means you have the best possible water tightness and easy access to your kayak’s cargo space.

Can be fitted to Plastic or composite kayaks either to replace an already existing hatch or added to a kayak still under construction or retrofit.

KS Round Hatch 10 Rim has a Nominal dimension of 10cm (size of the opening) – see the drawings or below for actual dimensions

The outer dimension is113mm – the appropriate rubber hatch cover to fit has a Top Outer Dimension of 119 mm (Hatch Cover 10)

This is a rim only and designed to be fitted to a kayak that you have made, or that you wish to put a hatch onto or to replace an existing hatch rim that has been damaged or that does not fit a kajaksport hatch cover. It is not something that you would regularly replace because of general use, age or wear and tear.

You will need to buy the Hatch cover separately.

Fitting to fibreglass Kayaks- The rim is easily glued to fibreglass boats using the appropriate resin.

Plastic Kayaks- Fitting a hatch rim to an HDPE boat will require the use of fastenings such as nut bolts and washers and a silicon sealant e.g. EM89, or the appropriate sealant from sikaflex, Mapei or soudal (or roof and gutter etc.)  (Use G316 grade metal fastenings and rubber backed metal washers for best results) We do sell complete kits in some sizes

Fitting it to an ABS boat such as a Surge ultralight series, or Delta or barracuda brand etc.  should be a simple matter of glueing with resin as per a fibreglass boat however as these all come with hatches finding the appropriate location may be an issue.

Make sure that you have the appropriately sized spot to put your hatch you will need a flat area.
